Felix Baumgartner’s Space Jump Seen by Over 8 Million People!

If you’ve not come across the name Felix Baumgartner, where have you been this week?! Red Bull’s space jump superstar launched himself out of a capsule at 128,000ft above earth on Sunday 14th October and managed to land on his feet!  Over 10 million people have since seen the YouTube video of this historic moment with 8 million watching the event LIVE, what an achievement!

The Red Bull Stratos team were the ones responsible funding and managing the whole project.  The jump was filmed and streamed live on Youtube, could this be a sign of things to come for media broadcasting?

After Felix had safely landed, the event sponsor Red Bull posted a picture of him on his knees to their Facebook page. This picture has generated over 69,946 shares, 526,142 likes and 15,419 comments to this day. Using both Facebook and Twitter, Red Bull invited questions for Felix stating that 3 of them would be answered by the man himself at the post-jump conference.

In summary, Red Bull have really set the bar on how to publicise a world record attempt through their expert and timely use of social media.  I just wonder what Red Bull have in-store for us next!? Any ideas?
